God’s covenant with Abraham March 26, 2011

It’s interest to see how God made a covenant with Abram (later Abraham) and how Abraham questioned how God could hold up his end of the covenant, especially considering that Abraham experienced a life of being unable to produce a child.
“After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.” But Abram said, “Lord God, what will you give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” Then Abram said, “Look, You have given me no offspring; indeed one born in my house is my heir!” …Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the number of stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.” (Gen 15:1-5)
The sweetness of the word of God March 14, 2011

“Moreover He said to me, “Son of man, eat what you find; eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel. So I opened my mouth, and He caused me to eat that scroll. And He said to me, “Son of man, feed your belly, and fill your stomach with this scroll that I give you.” So I ate, and it was in my mouth like honey in sweetness.” (Ezek 3:1-3)
God commanded the prophet and priest Ezekiel to eat the scroll (the word of God). Even though it sounds strange, Ezekiel was not the only one to ‘eat’ the word of God, nor was he the only one to find the word of God as sweet as honey.

Just what exactly are the utensils of the church and how are they used?
Do utensils that are used today have any reference to ancient times?

The seven Sacraments of the Church are the channels by which we receive the graces and blessings of the Holy Spirit. The Lord Jesus Christ has directly instituted all the Sacraments and the bible mentions them in detail.
